I am grateful to be accepted as a Technology Fellow for this year’s Harvard WECode: Women Engineers Code Conference. As the largest student run women in technology conference, we are open to everyone from any major. WECode 2022 is here to help you through your journey in the field of technology.

The three day conference will include workshops, panels, and corporate sponsored events by companies such as Google, Facebook, Bloomberg LP, Citadel, Capital One, and so many more!

The Harvard WECode Conference is organized by undergraduate women at Harvard University and is an initiative of Harvard Women in CS. We work towards strengthening the community of women in technology and recognize women engineers from all over the world. You will be able to explore different careers, engage in conversations with women in the industry, form global relationships with engineers, as well gather recruiting advice!

The Harvard Women Engineers Code (WECode) Conference team is hosting the annual college women in technology conference this year on February 18–20, 2022, Harvard WECode2022, at Harvard University.

Some of the questions asked in my Tech Fellowship applications and my answers to them were :

What experience do you have in technology (if none, what excites you about learning it)? What are you excited to do with technology in the future? (max 250 words) *

I’m a software developer, an avid robotics enthusiast with some exhibition awards and some scholarships, a Student Mentor from Google Cloud, the AI/ML head of the Institution’s tech chapter, and a Disney Scholar for the world’s largest technical summit for women, Grace Hopper Celebration consisting of 116 countries. Also, I participate in Hackathons quite a bit and hold positions in some! It has always been my hobby to work on projects to solve real-time problems, some of which are an e-commerce model, skin cancer detector, facial attendance system, voice-automated prototype, among others. Technology is a vast, unexplored terrain for me. I have always been that child who would love to create something out of scraps, has mind-boggling ideas, always thinking of ways to execute them. Since creating unique objects played a big part in my character development, I decided to study engineering, and software engineering piqued my interests. I have always been into creation, and software engineering is one of my future goals. Scaling my software to be used by many people to aid in their daily lives is my dream.

Why do you want to be a WECode Tech Fellow? What will you contribute to the Fellowship? (max 250 words) *

Originating from a country as India, where the annual attrition rate for women is 18%, and close to half of Indian women professionals quit work before they turn 30, technology beckons me to break through the stereotypes. WECode Tech Fellowship would help me gain meaningful insights and experience on how to transform my dreams into reality. It would also inspire me to build a community that would help mentor and skill tomorrow’s leaders. They would be technologically updated, which could be implemented into real-life for their career, securing more active participation. This fellowship will allow me to work on projects which will benefit the human race as well as formulate my own ideas. It would also help me strengthen my connections with like-minded individuals, aiding me further to fulfill my objective of completing my research on Embedded ML.
